Organic Vegan Pancake Feed Co-host info
Each month we invite a Madison area group to co-host the pancake breakfast in order to work with other groups in the community and to provide a fundraising and educational opportunity for them. Groups provide volunteer labor and promotion to their members, contacts, and friends. We provide the food and expertise (over 10 years of pancaking!!).
Groups also receive a portion of the entrance fees collected and Madison Hours for their volunteer time.
REQUIREMENTS OF CO-SPONSORS:
1) Please recruit THREE (3) volunteers to be at the Wil-Mar Center from 7:15 am to 12 Noon on the day of your scheduled breakfast. Volunteers can work in two shifts, but we need 3 there at any one time. Volunteers can eat for free before or after their shift (or in the middle, if they stay the whole time)
2) Please promote the event widely -- postering public places, email lists, blogs, word of mouth -- to members, friends, co-workers, etc.
The more that co-hosts promote the event, the more money they make. We ask that promotion include our (Madison Hours') name and a short description, our web address and our logo, if possible.
The money from the event is split in the following manner.
Madison Hours keeps the first $175 (this covers supplies, licenses, rent, etc..) The co-host gets the next $50. The remainder is then split 50/50 between Madison Hours and the co-host. In addition we also pay the co-hosting organization one Madison Hour for each volunteer hour performed with a maximum of 12 being paid for any one breakfast.
OTHER VOLUNTEER INFO: Volunteers should arrive with a hat or head scarf, to secure hair away from the face. At least two out of the 3 volunteers should be able to stand for long periods and perform general kitchen and cleaning duties. We find that wearing comfortable shoes makes this experience much nicer. Volunteers are also welcome to bring a favorite sharp chopping knife, as there are many potatos to be chopped, and sometimes the community center knives are not sharp. Please remember to take it home with you.
