Timebank stole me from Madison Hours

It doesn't have to be one or the other it can be both but somehow Timebank was clearer. When I contacted Madison Hours members about different projects, the clarity about how much federal money would be needed was not mentioned up front. I narrowly think Madison hours, all. And well, its just not that way. But why does Timebank work that way? The transactions have a balance that comes and goes. The interaction, or the setting up the meeting time, lacks clarity. But an hour spent or an hour earned is clear. That made me question time and money. I have gone back to those thoughts. But I wanted to reflect on the fact that I hadn't visited the Madison Hours site in awhile and why.

MJ, I appreciate your

MJ, I appreciate your comments. We are lucky to live in a city that has such great economic alternatives.

I really like that Hours transactions are always negotiable. I often end up having a better understanding of what goes into a service or product because of the need to discuss pricing. I also understand that this can be intimidating for some people, or as you put it, the expectation of how to complete transactions lacks clarity.

Based on your comments I plan to take a closer look at our promotional materials and see if we can make that part of the process more clear.

Yes, I agree, pricing and

Yes, I agree, pricing and labor, and figuring out what is worth has all come to the surface. Again with Madison Hours, it is more cut and dry. Timebank, not so much, as it feels like charity or donation with members exchange, that is give their service or skill and do not also receive from another member. So, they gain and gain but do not make the full circle. I always try and explain that to people. One member said, I have a large circle of support already, I do not need anymore help. But I like to help. Maybe it will click someday, that by receiving that is helping expand the community.
